The Moorhen is a Hungry Horse pub situated in a beautiful spot on the River Stort next to a small marina.
There are some picnic tables with sun shades at the front of the pub overlooking the narrow boats which line the canal. There is a lovely little play area for the kids with a large climbing frame, swings and a slide. The area is fenced off so that the little ones are safe from wandering over to the river.
As well as the outdoor play area there is a play barn downstairs which charges £2.50 per child.
We spent a Monday afternoon there in the school holidays with the grandkids. On Mondays kids under 8 eat for £1 and over 8 £1.50 with every 2 main meals purchased. We chose a meal from the 2 for 1 menu so all in all, it was a very cheap deal.
It really is a beautiful setting and a lovely place to spend a sunny afternoon/evening.
In the past few years, the road access road from the Town Station has been blocked off so you now have to access the Moorhen from a road down the side of the Dusty Miller.
