Reiki is a system of natural healing involving the laying on of hands. Rei-ki translates as universal life force energy. In healing it acts holistically, affecting all the energies comprising the human body, animals or plants. It has been called a “living ocean of energy”. It is a system of healing and self-development, a tool of self-awareness and transformation.
Reiki energy has been shown to effectively stimulate the relaxation response. Other benefits include strengthening the immune system, accelerated physical healing, improvements to state of health, detoxification, pain and stress relief, promotion of creativity, assisting emotional release, changing negative behaviour patterns, aiding meditation and encouraging positive thinking.
Because Reiki can be used for such a wide variety of different ailments, it is now practised in hospices, hospitals, prisons, GP surgeries, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres, palliative care, private health centres, nursing homes, HIV/Aids centres and animal rescue centres.
As Reiki is a non-invasive therapy it can be used with other healing modalities, both allopathic and complementary. Reiki is something anyone can learn to do. The ability to give Reiki is learned through oral tradition and a series of attunements or initiations from Teacher to Student.
Stepping on to the Reiki path, you will commence a remarkable journey of self-discovery, development, and healing. Reiki can be practised by anyone and can be used purely for your own self-development or to help others. If you practise other therapies, either allopathic or alternative, it can enhance those treatments you already offer. Alternatively, for many, it is used for their own healing and that of their friends and family. Reiki is not affiliated with any religious dogma or based on any belief, faith or suggestion.
