Even though jobs are starting to come back to Harlow, our economy is still facing enormous obstacles. The cost of petrol, for example, is the number one issue that residents raise with me . And, as someone who has a walking disability and is dependent on my car,
I know this only too well.

That is why I have raised petrol costs directly with the Prime Minister, and lobbied the Chancellor as well.  I am glad that the Budget, stopped Labour's planned fuel tax rises.  But we need to do much more.last week, I met with the Fair Fuel Campaign, Freight Transport Association and Road Haulage Association, and will now raise the issue with big energy companies and the Government.

Top of the list? We need transparency. The international oil price is falling but hard-pressed Harlow motorists are still paying inflated prices at the pump. On Tuesday I wrote to all the major energy companies, to ask if they will lower their prices across the UK.

I intend to make the cost of fuel a major issue in Parliament and to campaign on this issue with renewed vigour.  In July, I hope to travel with a Trucker to Europe, to see just how continetal truckers
have an in-built advantage when it comes to British Truckers, when it comes to the cost of fuel.
