A poem written by Beverley Rogers of Wordways
Sale
My husband’s savings’ bank account
Is always full when sales are about.
With lots of bargains in the stores,
labels giving 10% or more off
jackets, skirts, shoes and bags
saving him pounds with their special tags.
Credit or debit card at the ready,
my fingers poised and extra ready.
Then the assistant says to begin
I remember the number and punch in the PIN.
I’m so excited. Have clothes for a song.
Go to the car and make my way home.
My husband, he watches with eyes agog
While I show him my purchases, bag after bag.
His savings’ account once more overflows.
I’ve saved him some money while buying sale clothes!
