I subscribe to the Essex Libraries newsletter and was surprised and pleased to learn that the library subscribe to a number of magazines/journals/directories and newspapers online which are completely free to library members to view.  All you need to do is enter your Essex Library ticket number here to get started. 

Some of the magazines you can view are Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Good Housekeeping, Esquire, Computer Weekly, Computer Shopper, New Scientist, Interior Design and more.  There are magazines on skiing, surfing, yachting, travel golf, music, and journals for hairdressers, on music, arts, psychology, marketing, hospitality, travel, nursing, law, infact most subjects.

I have occasionally looked at the computer magazines on the newsagents shelf and noticed an interesting article that I’d like to read but didn’t want to buy the whole magazine – this way I can go to the website and download the article to read free!

The  website is not as easy to navigate as I would have liked and it took a while to find my way around the site.  You need to look out for the pdf option so that you get the whole article and not just a few lines.  Also keep an eye on the box on the left hand side to see what check boxes are ticked as I found unchecking some of those gave me more options and I was able to find what I wanted a little easier.
