Product and Instore Demonstrators
There is a lot of work for enthusiastic, confident, flexible and reliable people who have good communication skills with product and in store demonstration agencies.
You might be required to :
Set up a counter or other area where demonstrations take place
Arrange stock, posters and other publicity material to attract customers
Demonstrate products
Explain the benefits of a product and answering questions about it.
Handing out leaflets, brochures, coupons and free samples
Selling products, or passing customers to other members of the sales team.
show off your ironing skills, hold a food or drink tasting, offer samples of a new perfume or demonstrate a newly launched gadget.
You could be working in shops, shopping centres, supermarkets, exhibition centres and conference centres.
Or you might be asked to give out free samples, demonstrate a product promote special offers or discounts, keep sales records, make sure the display area is fully stocked, set up and take down displays.
Promotions can last for one day or for a week or more. Most jobs are temporary or part time.
Pay for freelance and part time work in this area is usually around £6 an hour or £60 to £240 a day plus expenses for food and travel
Hours are often in the evenings or during weekends so can fit in with another job, children or studying. You may need to travel around your local area or to other parts of the UK but that is something you would speak to the company about when you decide to take on a job.
There is no formal training for this job, although you will be required to attend a briefing session or short course to learn about the products you will be demonstrating.
There is also work through these companies for dancers and models for product launches.
