A poem written by Lesley James (The Inn Scribers writing Group)
I saw the look she sent to you,
her gaze was so intent on you,
I looked the other way.
She smiled, her will was bent on you,
She stumbled, then she leant on you,
An actress in a play.
I smelt her perfume's scent on you,
My angry tears were vent on you.
Your flowers came next day.
I guessed the nights she spent with you,
I knew the dreams she dreamt of you,
As in your bed she lay.
My naive heart was rent by you,
I realised what she meant to you.
And so I walked away.
