Lovelorn In Brittany

Lovelorn in Brittany

Miranda, sweet, let me take you

To the land due west of Rennes,

And there we’ll fall in love anew,

Believe me, it can happen again.

Drive with me to Prefailles, and stray

To the Point where St Gilda stayed,

There, wild sea horses toss in the spray

And boats safe at anchor are laid.

Eat with me, Miranda please stay

To moules marinieres and baguettes,

Then follow them on with vin du pays,

It’s a meal you will never forget.

Gaze with me, on a sight not to miss,

For the sky is ablaze with the light

Of the dying sun bending, as if to kiss

The grey sea, to gentle its might.

Oh dream with me, stay with me Miranda,

Give me hope that you’ll soon take my name,

Then together we’ll have time to meander

And share all life’s pleasure and strain.

“I’ll drive with you, eat with you, gaze with you too,

But dreaming’s for lovers”, said she,

“Yet with you I love to meander, ‘tis true”

“It’s not enough, I’m heartbroken” said he.
