News from Harlow Council: 500 days to the 2012 Olympic Games

TUESDAY 15 March 2010 marks 500 days to the 2012 Olympic Games, to celebrate this Harlow Council in partnership with The Essex Legacy from the 2012 Games at Essex County Council will be leading a 10 mile walk along the River Stort and surrounding areas.
This will be the fifth of a series of led walks in the lead up to London 2012. Starting from the car park along river way the route will be mainly along the River Stort with a few small detours taking you off the path along the way.
Walkers are invited to arrive at 9.45am and be ready to start the walk at 10am. The walk is 10 miles long and will take around 3 ½ to 4 hours to complete. There will be a short break along the way for a quick drink and a light snack. All walkers are advised to wear appropriate footwear and clothing as some of the paths could be quite wet and muddy.
There will be 20 Led walks in the lead up to London 2012 across five routes based on the Olympic rings with varying degrees of duration and difficulty. On completing each of the routes, walkers will be awarded with a coloured pin badge to represent the colour of the route that they have completed.
